The Kia EV9 Secures Top Honors at Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024

The Red Dot Award, a prestigious global design competition, annually recognizes products that exhibit outstanding design quality and innovation. The 'Best of the Best' title, reserved for groundbreaking designs, highlights the Kia design team’s success in developing the EV9. This vehicle not only represents a milestone in electric vehicle technology but also showcases Kia’s goal of pushing the boundaries of usability, connectivity, and environmental stewardship.

Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design, expressed his satisfaction with the recognition, stating, "The EV9 was crafted to push the limits of electric vehicle design while maintaining an authentic SUV character. The design of the EV9 is a product of Kia's 'Opposites United' design philosophy, which harmonizes contrasting elements of nature and modern technology. This approach results in a vehicle that combines sleek, sculptural forms with robust, assertive geometry. The EV9’s aesthetic is marked by a bold exterior that features the Digital Tiger Face, Digital Pattern Lighting Grille, and prominent vertical headlamps, which enhance its futuristic appeal.

Additionally, the EV9 is a key component of Kia’s strategy to lead in sustainable mobility. Launched in 2023, the SUV was the first Kia model to adopt the brand’s Design Sustainability Strategy. This initiative aims to reduce the use of animal-sourced materials, incorporate sustainable items into all new models, and explore the development of natural and bio-based materials.

The Red Dot Design Award is not the only accolade for the EV9; it has also garnered international praise and multiple awards, including the 'Gold' award at the 2024 iF Design Awards and accolades at the World Car Awards 2024, where it was named both 'World Car of the Year' and 'World Electric Vehicle of the Year.'
